The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 2-1 tonight to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 24-21. RHP Jacob deGrom had another outstanding outing and had his sixth quality start of the season. deGrom gave up four hits and two walks and eight strikeouts in seven shutout innings, but wound up with a no-decision. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia came on in the top of the ninth inning, but blew his fourth save after he gave up an RBI single to catcher J.T. Realmunto and a RBI single to 2B Starlin Castro.
The offense didn't do much against Marlins starter LHP Dan Straily and were held to only six hits, three walks and one run. LF Brandon Nimmo drove in the only run of the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. Nimmo and 1B Adrian Gonzalez were the only hitters with multi-hit games and each of them went 2-for-3.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night against the Milwaukee Brewers at 8:10 P.M.
