Mets vs. Braves Game 28 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 7-0 tonight for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 17-11 and lost sole possession of first place in the National League East for the first time this season. RHP Jacob deGrom got off a blazing start and was dominant for his first four innings. deGrom gave up two hits and had six strikeouts over four innings. He had to come out in the bottom of the fourth innings due to a hyperextended right elbow. RHP Paul Sewald had to come in next and pitched a scoreless top of the fifth inning, but gave up an RBI single to 1B Freddie Freeman in the top of the sixth inning. Sewald came back in the top of the seventh inning for his third inning and had a difficult time after he gave up a RBI double to Braves starter LHP Sean Newcombe and then allowed a solo homer to CF Ender Inciarte, He ended up allowing three runs in three innings. RHP Robert Gsellman followed and gave up four runs in the top of the eighth inning, including two homers. RHP A.J. Ramos pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.

The Mets offense was lifeless all night and managed only four total baserunners and thee hits. LF Yoenis Cespedes had the only extra base hit, a double in the second inning.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the Braves at 1:10 P.M.
