The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 5-0 tonight to snap their two-game losing streak and improve their record to 25-21. The offense was held scoreless for the first two innings against Brewers starter RHP Zack Davies, but broke through in the top of the third inning. LF Brandon Nimmo led off the inning with a triple and two batters later 3B Wilmer Flores drove him in with a sacrifice fly. In the top of the fifth inning, 2B Asdrubal Cabrera drove in SS Amed Rosario and Nimmo on a two-run double. Flores followed by driving in Cabrera with a sacrifice fly. In the top of the seventh inning, catcher Devin Mesoraco hit an RBI double.
LHP Steven Matz bounced back and had a great outing after he struggled in his last outing on May 19th. Matz gave up four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six shutout innings. He picked up his second win. RHP Paul Sewald came in next with a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning and then followed it up with a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Jacob Rhyme came on in the bottom of the ninth inning in a non-save situation and pitched a scoreless inning.
The Mets next game is at 8:10 P.M. tomorrow night against the Brewers.
