Mets Lose to Brewers 8-3 As Freddy Peralta's Struggles Continue

The New York Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 8-3 tonight at American Family Field and dropped their record to 42-59.

Mets RHP Freddy Peralta got into immediate trouble in the bottom of the first after he walked LF Jackson Chourio with one out and then gave up a RBI double to second baseman Brice Turang. Two batters later, Peralta gave up a RBI single to CF Garrett Mitchell.

In the bottom of the second, Peralta gave up a solo homer to SS Cooper Pratt.

In the bottom of the third, Peralta gave up a two-run homer to 1B Andrew Vaughn.

Peralta was able to settle down for a little while with scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth, but in the bottom of the sixth walked RF Jake Bauers and then gave up a single to Pratt and was taken out.

RHP Xzavion Curry came in next and gave up a three-run homer to 3B Joey Ortiz.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after catcher Francisco Alvarez led off with a single and then RF A.J. Ewing reached on a fielding error by Vaughn which allowed Alvarez to advance to third. 

However, LF Juan Soto came up next and grounded into a double play to cost them a big inning, but still scored Alvarez.

In the top of the eighth, Soto walked with one out and then 3B Bo Bichette followed with a double to advance to Soto to third.

SS Francisco Lindor then drove in Soto with a RBI ground-out and then DH Jorge Polanco drove in Bichette with a RBI single.

The offense went 1-5 with runners in scoring position leaving seven runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, July 21 at the Brewers at 7:40 p.m.

Mets Beat Phillies 6-1 To Take Series Behind Francisco Lindor and Stellar Outing From Nolan McLean

The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-1 at Citizens Bank Park this afternoon to take two out of three games in the series to improve their record to 42-58.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after 3B Bo Bichette walked with two outs and SS Francisco Lindor followed with a two-run homer.

In the top of the second, RF Brett Baty led off with a single and catcher Luis Torrens followed with a RBI double. Two batters later, DH Juan Soto walked and then Bichette hit an infield hit to load the bases. Lindor followed with a RBI single and RF Carson Benge then hit a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the sixth, Torrens led off with a single and CF A.J. Ewing followed with an infield hit. Soto then drove in Torrens with a RBI single. 

Lindor added a double in the top of the eighth and was a triple shy of the cycle.

Mets RHP Nolan McLean had a dominating outing throwing six scoreless innings. He gave up two hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts. He picked up his seventh win and lowered his ERA to 3.34.

LHP A.J. Minter came in next in the bottom of the seventh and gave up a solo homer to 3B Alec Bohm.

RHP Huascar Brazoban threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

LHP Cionel Perez closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

Mets Lose To Phillies 6-1 With Sloppy Defense and Lack of Offense

The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 6-1 this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park to drop their record to 41-58.

Mets LHP Sean Manaea got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after SS Trea Turner led off with an infield hit and then DH Kyle Schwarber followed with a two-run homer.

Manaea was able to settle down for the next three innings throwing scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third and fourth, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the fifth.

Manaea gave up a lead-off homer to Turner and then walked Schwarber. Schwarber was able to advance to third after catcher Francisco Alvarez made a throwing error on a pick-off attempt. Two batters later, Manaea gave up a single to 3B Alec Bohm and was then taken out.

Manaea's final line was 4.2 innings, seven hits, four runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.

RHP Kodai Senga came in next and picked up last out in the bottom of the fifth. Senga came back for the bottom of the sixth and gave up a two-run single to 1B Bryce Harper and came back out after a 45-minute rain delay and finished bottom of the sixth.

RHP Xzavion Curry followed and threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth.

The Met offense did not do much all game managing only three hits. LF Tyrone Taylor drove in the lone run with a solo homer.

They went 0-3 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

Mets Beat Phillies 4-1 Powered By Two Homers From Francisco Alvarez And Strong Start From Christian Scott

The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 tonight at Citizens Bank Park to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 41-57.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after catcher Francisco Alvarez hit a solo homer.

The offense did not score any runs for the next four innings until the top of the seventh after 2B Brett Baty and Alvarez hit back-to-back homers.

In the top of the ninth, 1B Jared Young led off with a walk and three batters later, CF A.J. Ewing drove in Young with a RBI double.

Mets RHP Christian Scott had a terrific start with 5.2 scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and no walks with seven strikeouts on 79 pitches (56 strikes). Scott picked up his third win and lowered his ERA to 2.87.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next and picked up last out in the bottom of the sixth.

RHP Huascar Brazoban threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Luke Weaver came on in the bottom of the eighth and had his scoreless streak of 25 straight appearances end after he gave up a solo homer to SS Trea Turner.

RHP Devin Williams followed and closed it out with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to pick up his 14th save.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Saturday, July 18 at the Phillies at 4:05 p.m.

Mets Lose To Red Sox 3-2 in 10 Innings Wasting Fine Start From Zach Thorton

The New York Mets lost to the Boston Red Sox 3-2 in 10 innings this afternoon and were swept in the three game series to drop their record to 40-57.

Mets rookie LHP Zach Thornton had a fine outing throwing seven scoreless innings allowing two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

RHP Luke Weaver followed with a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Devin Williams came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a lead-off bloop single and two batters with one out, SS Francisco Lindor misplayed a routine ground ball on what should have been a game-ending 6-4-3 double play.

Willlims then gave up a walk to load the bases and another walk to bring a run.

Williams gave up a bloop single to score tying run, but was able to get a 4-6-3 double play on a line-out to keep the game tied.

LHP Brooks Raley came on in the top of the tenth and gave up a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice bunt to score the ghost runner from second base.

In the bottom of the first, CF A.J. Ewing led off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Lindor drove in Ewing with a RBI double.

Lindor added a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth.

The Met offense's struggles with men on base continued after they went 1-8 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

The Mets are off for the next three days for the All-Star break and return back to action on Thursday, July 15 at the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:10 p.m.

The New York Mets lost to the Boston Red Sox 4-0 this afternoon at Citi Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 40-56.

Mets RHP Freddy Peralta got off to a dominant start in the top of the first striking out the side and then worked out of a jam with runners on second and third with one out in the top of the second.

Peralta had a 1-2-3 top of the third, but in the top of the fourth gave up a lead-off walk to 3B Caleb Durbin and two batters later, gave up a two-run homer to Andruw Monasterio.

Peralta gave up a lead-off walk in the top of the fifth and two batters later, gave up a double and a walk and was then taken out.

His final line was 4.1 innings, three hits, two runs, two earned runs, five walks and six strikeouts.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and got the last two outs in the top of the fifth.

LHP A.J. Minter followed with a scoreless top of the sixth.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Tobias Myers came on in the top of the eighth and gave up a two-run homer to DH Masataka Yoshida. Myers stayed in for the top of the ninth and threw a scoreless inning.

The Met offense was unable to come up with any clutch hits and went 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.

The New York Mets lost to the Boston Red Sox 6-2 tonight at Citi Field to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 40-55.

RHP Nolan McLean was let down by his defense in the top of the first after LF Juan Soto made an error on a fly ball by Red Sox lead-off hitter 2B Anthony Seigler and two batters later, walked RF Wilyer Abreau and two batters later, gave up a two-run double to Masataka Yoshiba.

McLean pitched well with five scoreless innings after that and escaped out of a jam with runners on second and third and one out in the top of the fifth and was taken out after the top of the sixth.

His final line was six innings, five hits, two runs, 0 earned runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.

LHP A.J. Minter came in next in the top of the seventh and gave up an infield hit to SS Tsung-Che Cheng and then a two-run homer to Seigler.

RHP Kodai Senga followed in the top of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

LHP Cionel Perez came in next in the top of the ninth and gave up a two-run homer to RF Abreau.

In the bottom of the third, 2B Brett Baty singled to lead off and stole second and later in the inning, Soto hit a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the ninth, Baty added a solo homer.

The Met offense wasted numerous scoring opportunities and was unable to come up with a clutch hit. They went 0-8 with runners in scoring position leaving seven runners on base.

Mets Beat Royals 7-3 Led By Five-Run Inning And Strong Pitching From Sean Manaea

The New York Mets beat the Kansas City Royals 7-3 this afternoon at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and took two out of three games in the series to improve their record to 40-54.

The Met offense was held scoreless in the bottom of the first, but in the bottom of the second, RF Carson Bedge led off with a walk and two batters later, 1B Jared Young drove in Benge with a RBI single.

The offense did not score any runs for the next two innings until the bottom of the fifth after CF Tyrone Taylor led off with a homer and then 2B Brett Baty followed with a single. Baty then stole second and two batters later, CF A.J. Ewing singled to advance Baty to third.

LF Juan Soto followed with a walk to load the bases and then SS Bo Bichette drove in Baty with a sacrifice fly.

RF Carson Benge came up next and drove in Ewing with a RBI single and Soto came around to score on an error by CF Lane Thomas.

DH Francisco Alvarez followed by driving in Benge with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh, Soto led off with a 435 foot homer.

LHP Sean Manaea got off to a rocky start in the top of the first after he gave up a lead-off homer to Thomas.

Manaea was able to settle down after that retiring seven out of the next eight hitters he faced until he gave up another solo homer, this time to SS Bobby Witt Jr in the top of the fourth.

Manaea was able to keep the pitch count down and was a lot more efficient and had 63 pitches to start the top of the sixth.

He gave up a RBI double to RF Jac Caglianone in the top of the seventh and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was seven innings, six hits, three runs (two earned runs), one walk and six strikeouts.

He picked up his second win and lowered his ERA to 4.56.

RHP Huascar Brazoaban came in next and threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Devin Williams closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.

3B Mark Vientos left the game prior to the top of the third after being hit by a pitch on the hand.

Mets Beat Royals 6-2 Behind Five-Run Eighth Inning

The New York Mets beat the Kansas City Royals 6-2 tonight at Citi Field and improved their record to 39-54.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after CF A.J. Ewing hit a lead-off homer.

The offense did not do much after that for the next six innings against Royals reliver RHP Randy Dobnak who was taken out with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

In the bottom of the eighth with two outs, SS Francisco Lindor singled and then RF Carson Benge followed with a walk. DH Jorge Polanco then reached on an infield hit to load the bases.

1B Jared Young was then hit by a pitch to score the go-ahead run. 2B Brett Baty came up next and delivered a two-run single.

Young then scored on a wild pitch and catcher Francisco Alvarez capped off the inning with a RBI single.

Mets RHP Christian Scott had a tough first couple of scoreless innings and had to throw 49 pitches. Scott was able to settle down after that with more efficient innings in the top of the third and fourth needing only 25 pitches. He finished up strong with a 1-2-3 top of the fifth and was taken out with 90 pitches.

Scott's final line was 5.0 innings, three hits, 0 runs, one walk and five strikeouts.

RHP Tobias Myers came in next in the top of the sixth and gave up a one-out double to 1B Jac Caglianone and later in the inning, a RBI single to DH Salvador Perez.

Myers came back out for the top of the seventh and was able to escape out of a jam after he allowed a lead-off double.

LHP Brooks Raley with a scoreless top of the eighth. Raley picked up his fourth win of the season.

RHP Xzavion Curry came on in the top of the ninth inning in his Met debut and gave up a one on a double and walk. Curry was able to get the last three outs to close out the game.

Mets Lose To Royals 16-12 After Bullpen Blows Five Run Lead

The New York Mets lost to the Kansas City Royals 16-12 tonight at Citi Field to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 38-54.

Mets LHP Cionel Perez got the start as an "opener" and threw a scoreless top of the first inning.

RHP Kodai Senga came in next in the top of the second and retired the first two hitters he faced and then gave up a single to 2B Michael Massey and a two-run homer to the following hitter RF Tyler Tolbert.

Senga threw a scoreless top of the third, but ran into trouble in the top of the fourth after he loaded the bases with two walks and a single and then gave up a two-run double to CF Lane Thomas and was taken out after the inning. Senga's final line was four runs on five hits in 3.0 innings with four strikeouts and four walks.

RHP Austin Warren came in next in the top of the fifth and was unable to record an out allowing five runs on four hits and one walk and was then taken out.

RHP Huascar Brazoban appeared next and allowed a run on a ground-out, gave up a walk and the game-tying RBI single to DH Salvador Perez.

Brazoban stayed in for the top of the sixth and was able to escape out of a based loaded jam. 

RHP Matt Seelinger came in next in the top of the seventh in his MLB debut and gave up the go-ahead RBI double to Salvador  Perez and then gave up six more runs in the inning.

Seelinger came back out for the top of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

LHP A.J. Minter threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

In the bottom of the first, RF Carson Benge came up with runners on first and second and hit a comebacker back to RHP Seth Lugo who made a poor throw to first base to allow the run to score. Then 1B Jac Caglianone made a poor throw across the field. 3B Nick Loftin picked up Caglianone's throw and threw the ball home late to allow another run to score. The throw then got past catcher Carter Jenkins which allowed Benge to come around and score. In all, there were a total of three errors on the play.

In the bottom of the second, 2B Brett Baty doubled with one out and two batters later, CF A.J. Ewing hit a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the fourth, 1B Jared Young led off with a single and two batters later, catcher Luis Torrens reached first on an infield hit. Ewing followed with a RBI single and LF Juan Soto followed with a three-run homer.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the next two innings until the bottom of the seventh after Benge walked with one out and DH Jorge Polanco followed with a double who came back from the injured list today. Young then singled and Baty drove in Polanco with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the eighth, Ewing led off with an infield hit and later in the inning, advanced to second on a wild pitch. Three batters later, SS Francisco Lindor walked and Benge followed with a RBI single.

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 7-6 in 10 innings tonight at Truist Park for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 38-53.

The Met offense was held scoreless in the top of the first, but in the top of the second, RF Carson Benge homered to lead off the top of the second.

The offense was held scoreless for the next three innings until the top of the sixth after 3B Bo Bichette lead off and two batters later, Benge doubled, but Bichette was thrown out at home. 1B Jared Young then reached on an infield hit and then catcher Francisco Alvarez followed with a RBI single.

In the top of the ninth, Alvarez led off with a single and was taken out for pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor. Two batters later, SS Ronny Mauricio singled and two batters later, LF Juan Soto delivered a three-run homer.

In the top of the tenth with two outs, Young was hit by a pitch and then catcher Luis Torrens came through and delivered with the game-winning two-run double.

Mets RHP Freddy Peralta had a scoreless bottom of the first, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the second after he gave up singles to DH Dominic Smith, SS Jim Jarvis and CF Michael Harris II and then Young made a fielding error which allowed two runs to score.

Peralta gave up a lead-off homer to 1B Matt Olson in the bottom of the third.

Peralta had a scoreless bottom of the fourth and then gave up a double and hit by pitch as well as picking up two outs in the bottom of the fifth and was then taken out.

His final line was 4.2 innings, six hits, three runs, one earned run, one walk and six strikeouts.

LHP Cionel Perez came in next and threw 1.2 scoreless innings.

LHP A.J. Minter followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Guillo Zinga followed in the bottom of the eighth in his Met debut and threw a scoreless inning.

RHP Devin Williams came on in the bottom of the ninth and gave up a lead-off double to 2B Ozzie Albies and then a two-run homer to the following hitter Olson.

Williams was taken out later in the inning with runners on second and third and two outs. LHP Brooks Raley came in and struck out RF Mike Yastremzki to send the game into the tenth inning.

RHP Luke Weaver came on in the bottom of the tenth and gave up a one-out RBI double to Harris II. Weaver came back to strike out Albies, intentionally walked Olson and then walked LF Jorge Mateo to load the bases.

Williams was able to retire LF Mauricio Dubon on a ground-out to shortstop to close out the game and picked up his first save of the season.

Mets Hang Out To Beat Braves 10-9 Led By Bo Bichette

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 10-9 this afternoon at Truist Park to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 37-53.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off and reached first on an error by 3B Austin Riley and then DH Juan Soto followed with a single, but was thrown out at second trying to stretch it to a double. 3B Bo Bichette followed with a RBI single to score Lindor.

In the top of the second, CF A.J. Ewing led off with a homer and then catcher Luis Torrens followed with a walk. 2B Brett Baty then doubled and Lindor followed with a RBI single to score Torrens. Soto followed with a two-run single to score Baty and Lindor.

The offense was held scoreless for the next six innings and then came alive in the top of the ninth.

LF Tyrone Taylor led off with a a homer and then three batters later, Baty singled and then Lindor followed with a walk. 

Soto then walked to load the bases and Bichette followed with a two-run double. 1B Jared Young came up next and delivered a much needed two-run single that would come in handy in the bottom of the ninth.

Mets RHP Nolan McLean got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first allowing three runs on a two run single by CF Michael Harris II and a RBI single by LF Mauricio Dubon.

McLean was able to settle down and did not allow any more runs after that and had scoreless innings innings in the bottom of the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

His final line was six innings, five hits, three runs, (two earned), one walk and five strikeouts. He picked up his sixth win.

LHP Brooks Raley followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Luke Weaver came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth to extend his scoreless inning streak to 25 innings and lowered his ERA to 1.96.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came on in the bottom of the ninth and had a difficult outing allowing five runs on four hits recording only one out.

RHP Devin Williams had to come in and gave up a RBI single to Dubon, but came back to strike out former Met Dominic Smith to close out the game and pick up his 13th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, July 6 at the Braves at 7:15 p.m.

Mets Crushed By Braves 14-3 After Sean Manea Has A Difficult Outing

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 14-3 tonight at SunTruist Park for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 36-53.

LHP Sean Manaea started out with a scoreless bottom of the first, but then in the bottom of the second gave up a solo homer to RF Eli White.

In the bottom of the third, it all fell apart for Manaea after he gave up a RBI single to CF Michael Harris II and then after loading the bases, White hit a fly ball to shallow center field and there was a miscommunication between CF Tyrone Taylor and SS Francisco Lindor which caused the ball to drop and allow all three runs to score to clear the bases.

Manaea gave up a solo homer to LF Mauricio Dubon in the bottom of the fourth and then a 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth and was taken out after the inning.

Manaea's final line was five innings, six hits, six runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

RHP Austin Warren came in next in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a RBI double to catcher Joey Bart and a RBI ground-out to Dubon,

Warren stayed in for the bottom of the seventh and gave up a two-run homer to pinch-hitter Mike Yastrzemski.

RHP Joey Gerber came in next in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a three-run homer to 3B Austin Riley and was taken out.

Catcher Luis Torrens had to come in and gave up a solo homer to Harris II.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings until the top of the fifth after Taylor hit a solo homer.

In the top of the sixth, 1B Mark Vientos hit a two-run homer.

The offense's struggles to get a clutch hit continued after they went 1-9 with runners in scoring position leaving 11 runners on base.

Mets Lose To Braves 5-3 Despite Two-Run Homer From Juan Soto

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 5-3 tonight at SunTruist Park for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 36-52.

Mets RHP Christian Scott started out well with a 1-2-3 bottom of the first with two strikeouts, but then ran into trouble in the bottom of the second.

Scott gave up a lead-off walk to LF Mauricio Dubon and then allowed a two-run homer to the following hitter CF Michael Harris II.

Scott was hurt again by the home run in the bottom of the third after he gave up a solo homer to 2B Ozzie Albies.

Scott was able to settle down and finish up strong by striking out the side in the bottom of the fourth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was four innings, two hits, three runs, four walks and seven strikeouts.

LHP A.J. Minter came in next in the bottom of the fifth and gave up a solo homer to 1B Matt Olson.

RHP Kodai Senga came in next and had 1-2-3 innings in the bottom of the sixth and seventh, however he stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and gave up a two-run homer to Olson.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after CF A.J. Ewing reached first on an error by Olson and then LF Juan Soto followed with a two-run homer.

The offense did not do much for the next five innings until the top of the ninth after catcher Luis Torrens singled with one out and two batters later, Soto singled and 3B Bo Bichette folowed by driving in Torrens with a RBI single.

However, SS Francisco Lindor came up next and grounded out to second for the last out of the game.

The Met offense was unable to come up with a timely hit and went 2-5 with runners in scoring position leaving 10 runners on base.

Mets Lose to Blue Jays 9-3 Afte Freddy Peralta Has Another Rough Start

The New York Mets lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 9-3 this afternoon at the Rogers Centre to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 36-51.

RHP Freddy Peralta got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off infield hit to RF Nathan Lukes and a double to the following hitter 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Peralta then gave up another infield hit to the following hitter 3B Kazuma Okamoto to bring in a run.

Peralta was able to escape out of a based loaded jam to prevent further trouble and had a scoreless bottom of the second with two strikeouts.

However, it all apart for Peralta in the bottom of the third after he gave up a lead off walk to Okamoto and two batters later, a single to catcher Aledandro Kirk.

Two batters later, Peralta gave up a RBI double to 2B Ernie Clement and then a three-run homer to DH Sean Keys.

Peralta had a 1-2-3 bottom of the fourth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was four innings, seven hits, five runs, two walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Joey Gerber followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

LHP Cionel Perez came in next and had back-to-back strikeouts to end the bottom of the sixth.

Perez stayed in for the bottom of the seventh and gave up a lead-off walk to Guerrero Jr and then back-to-back singles leading to a run.

Perez gave up another single to Kirk and then a three-run homer to punch-hitter Myles Straw and was taken out.

LHP A.J. Minter followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first seven innings until the top of the eighth after 2B Brett Baty singled with one out and two batters later, RF Carson Benge hit a two-run homer.

In the top of the ninth, SS Francisco Lindor added a solo homer.

The Mets are off tomorrow night and return back to action for the start of a four-game series beginning on Friday, July 3 at the Atlanta Braves at 7:15 p.m.
