Mets Beat Rockies 10-5 Behind 15 Hits And Strong Outing by Freddy Peralta

The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 10-5 tonight at Coors Field for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 14-22.

The Met offense got off a fast start in the top of the first after LF Juan Soto led off with a homer.

The offense was held scoreless for the next two innings and then came alive again in the top of the fourth.

3B Brett Baty led off with a walk and then 2B Marcus Semien followed with a double. RF Carson Benge then delivered a two-run single to score Baty and Semien. DH Francisco Alvarez followed with a single to advance Benge to third and catcher Luis Torrens then drove in Benge with a RBI ground-out.

In the top of the fifth, Semien led off with a single and Benge followed with a double. Alvarez then drove in Semien with a RBI single and Torrens followed with a hit by pitch.

Soto followed with a sacrifice fly to score Benge and SS Bo Bichette followed with a RBI single to score Alvarez.

CF Tyrone Taylor then grounded into a fielder's choice and Torrens scored on an error by 2B Eduardo Julien.

In the top of the night, Semien capped off his stellar night at the plate with a two-run homer.

Mets RHP Freddy Peralta had an excellent start throwing five scoreless innings allowing four hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Peralta picked up his second win and lowered his ERA to 3.12.

RHP Tobias Myers followed in the bottom of the sixth and had a difficult outing allowing four runs on five hits with two homers. Myers had to come out after retiring only two batters.

LHP Brooks Raley had to come in and picked up the last out in the bottom of the sixth and came back out for the bottom of the seventh and threw a scoreless inning.

RHP Luke Weaver threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

LHP Sean Manaea came on in the bottom of the ninth and had a difficult time allowing one run on a hit by pitch after he gave up three consecutive singles to load the bases with a strikeout before coming out with one out in the inning.

RHP Devin Williams appeared next and closed it out with back-to-back strikeouts to pick up his fifth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, May 7 at the Rockies at 3:10 p.m.

Tuesday's Mets-Rockies Game Postponed

 Today's Mets-Rockies game at Coors Field has been postponed due to weather.

The game will be made up on Thursday at 3:10 p.m., which was an original off day for both teams.

Wednesday's game will now start at 9:20 p.m. instead of the original 3:10 p.m. start time.

The weather report in Denver has rain turning into 1-3 inches of snow on Tuesday night.

Mets Beat Rockies 4-2 Behind Four-Run Six Inning

The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2 this afternoon at Coors Field for their third win in their last four games to improve their record to 13-22.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first five innings and then came alive in the top of the sixth.

CF Carson Benge led off with a homer and then DH Francisco Alvarez followed with a double.

Catcher Luis Torrens followed with a double of his own to score Alvarez.

LF Juan Soto then walked and SS Bo Bichette grounded out.

RF M.J. Melendez followed with a strikeout and then 1B Mark Vientos came up and broke the game open with a two-run single.

RHP Huascar Brazoban got the start as an "opener" and threw a scoreless inning in the bottom of the first.

RHP Austin Warren followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the second and third.

LHP David Peterson came in next in the bottom of the fourth and had a dominating inning striking out the side.

Peterson stayed in and threw a scoreless bottom of the fifth and had another scoreless inning in the bottom of the sixth.

Peterson came back for a fourth inning ran into trouble in the bottom of the seventh after two quick outs allowing a single and  a RBI triple to RF Jordan Beck.

Peterson gave up another run on a RBI single by 3B Kyle Karros, and was taken out after the inning.

Peterson's final line was four innings, three hits, two runs, no walks and six strikeouts. 

He picked up his first win.

RHP Craig Kimbrel followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Devin Williams closed it out with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth and picked up his fourth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 5 at the Rockies at 8:40 p.m.

Mets Place Ronny Maurico on 10-Day Injured List With Thumb Fracture

The New York Mets have placed infielder Ronny Mauricio on the 10-day IL with a fractured left thumb after he slid head first into first base in the seventh inning on Saturday night's game.

Infielder Vidal Brujan has been called up from Triple-A Syracuse as corresponding roster.

Mauricio is expected to miss 6-8 weeks according to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza.

Mets Beat Angels 5-1 To Take Series Powered By Two Homers From Mark Vientos

The New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-1 this afternoon at Citi Field to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 12-22.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings and then came alive in the top of the fourth after RF Carson Benge walked with one out and then 1B Mark Vientos followed with a two-run homer.

The offense was held scoreless for the next three innings until the top of the eighth after 3B Brett Baty led off with a hit by pitch and then 2B Marcus Semien followed with a ground-out to the catcher which allowed Baty to advance to second.

RF Carson Benge came up next and delivered a RBI double to score Baty for a much needed insurance run.  Vientos came up next and capped off his stellar day at the plate with a two-run homer, his second of the game.

RHP Clay Holmes got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first allowing back-to-back walks to start the inning and then gave up a RBI single to RF Jorge Soler. Holmes was able to escape further trouble in the inning by getting DH Joe Adell to ground into a double play to end the threat and had a high pitch count of 27 pitches after the bottom of the first.

Holmes was able to settle down after that and retired 12 out of the last 15 hitters he faced. Holmes had help defensively after LF M.J. Melendez made a diving catch in the bottom of the sixth and Benge made a leaping catch in the bottom of the seventh. 

Holmes was taken out with two outs in the bottom of the seventh after SS Bo Bichette made a throwing error.

Holmes's final line was 6.2 innings, four hits, one run, three walks and six strikeouts. He picked up his fourth win and lowered his ERA to 1.69.

RHP Luke Weaver came in next and struck out pinch-hitter Yoan Moncada to end the inning.

Weaver stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

LHP Brooks Raley closed it out in the bottom of the ninth with a scoreless inning.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, May 4 at the Colorado Rockies at 8:40 p.m.
