Mets Beat Reds 9-1 Behind Outstanding Start from Nolan McLean and Offensive Outburst

The New York Mets beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-1 at Great American Ball Park this afternoon to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 33-41.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after catcher Luis Torrens led off with an infield hit and then SS Zach Short followed with a sacrifice bunt. RF Carson Benge then grounded out and then 3B Bo Bichette walked.

LF Juan Soto followed with a RBI single to score Torrens and then 2B Marcus Semien followed with a RBI single to score Semien. 1B Mark Vientos followed with a RBI sungle of his own to score Soto.

In the top of the fifth, Bichette singled with one out and Soto followed with a single. Semien then singled to load the bases and Vientos followed with a sacrifice fly to score Bichette.

DH Francisco Alvarez followed with a RBI single to score Soto and then CF A.J. Ewing followed by breaking the game open with a two-run double.

In the top of the eighth, CF Carson Benge tripled with one out and then Bichette followed with a RBI single. 

Soto followed with a RBI single to score Bichette.

Mets RHP Nolan McLean had a dominating outing allowed one unearned run on three hits in seven innings. He gave up one walk with nine strikeouts. He picked up his fourth win and lowered his 
ERA to 3.67.

LHP Brooks Raley followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Adam Warren came in next and closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday, June 18 at the Philadelphia Phillies at 6:40 p.m.

Mets Lose to Reds 5-3 And Fail To Get Clutch Hit

The New York Mets lost to the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 tonight at Great American Ball Park for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 32-41.

Mets RHP Kodai Senga got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first after he gave up back-to-back walks to start the inning and then gave up a three-run homer to 1B Sal Stewart. Three batters later, Senga gave up a solo homer to RF Spencer Steer.

Senge was able to settle down after that and threw three scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third and fourth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was four innings, two hits, four runs, four walks and five strikeouts.

LHP Cionel Perez came in next in the bottom of the fifth and gave up a RBI single to Stewart.

RHP Adam Warren followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.

RHP Huascar Brazoban came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Luke Weaver threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth striking out the side.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third after 3B Brett Baty led off with a hit by pitch and two batters later, catcher Francisco Alvarez singled.

Two batters later, SS Bo Bichette drove in Baty with a RBI single. DH Juan Soto followed with a walk to load the bases with two outs, but then 1B Jared Young flew out to the shortstop to end the threat.

In the top of the fourth, they loaded the bases once again with two outs, but RF Carson Benge flew out to right.

In the top of the sixth, 2B Marcus Semien singled with one out and advanced to second on an error by Steer.

Two batters later, pinch-hitter Mark Vientos came through with a two-run homer,

In the top of the eighth, they had another scoring opportunity after Semien and Baty walked to start off the inning, but then Vientos and catcher Francisco Alvarez struck out and Benge grounded out to end the inning.

Once again, the Mets inability to hit with men on base continued after that went 2-11 with runners in scoring position leaving 11 runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, June 17 at the Reds at 12:40 p.m.

Mets Crushed By Reds 12-0 After Myers and Pintaro Struggle

The New York Mets lost to the Cincinnati Reds 12-0 tonight at Great American Ballpark to drop their record to 32-40.

Mets RHP Tobias Myers made his return to the rotation and had a difficult outing allowing seven runs in 1 1 2/3 innings.

RHP Jonathan Pinataro came in next and did not fare much better allowing two runs in 3.2 innings.

LHP David Peterson followed and gave up three runs in three innings.

The Met offense was unable to come up with any runs wasting numerous scoring opportunities. They left the bases loaded in the top of the fourth and fifth and left two more runs stranded in the top of the sixth and three more in the top of the seventh.

They went 1-12 with runners in scoring position leaving 12 runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, June 15 at the Reds at 7:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Braves 8-1 To Take Series Led By Four-Run First Inning

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 8-1 at Citi Field this afternoon to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 32-39.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after RF Carson Benge led off with a walk and SS Bo Bichette followed with a single.

DH Juan Soto then bunted back to the catcher and reached first on a fielder's choice. 1B Jared Young followed with a RBI single and then CF A.J. Ewing drove in Soto with a RBI double and then LF Mike Yastrzemski made a throwing error to allow Young to score as well.

Two batters later, 3B Brett Baty drove in Ewing with a RBI single.

The offense was held scoreless for the next three innings until the bottom of the fifth after Ewing and 2B Marcus Semien hit back-to-back homers to start the inning.

In the bottom of the eighth, Benge led off with a single and then Bichette reached on an infield hit and Benge was able to advance to third on an error by 2B Ozzie Albies.

Mets RHP Freddy Peralta got off to a rocky start in the top of the first after he gave up three straight singles to load the bases with no outs. Peralta came back to strike out Albies and then gave up a sacrifice fly to former Met DH Dom Smith. Peralta was able to strike out the next hitter 3B Austin Riley to limit the damage to one run.

Peralta was able to settle down after that retiring the next nine hitters he faced and then finished up strong with a scoreless top of the fifth and was then taken out.

His final line was five innings, four hits, one run, one walk and two strikeouts. He picked up his fifth win and lowered his ERA to 3.90.

LHP Cionel Perez followed by picking up the first two outs in the top of the sixth and was then taken out.

RHP Daniel Duerte came in next and threw 1. 2 scoreless innings.

LHP A.J. Minter followed by picking up the last two outs in the top of the eighth.

RHP Huascar Brazoban then closed it out with a 1-2-3 top of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, June 15 at the Cincinnati Reds at 7:10 p.m.
