Mets Lose to Braves 3-1 And Waste Fine Start from Sean Manaea

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 3-1 this afternoon at Citi Field to snap thei two-game losing streak and improved their record to 31-39.

Mets LHP Sean Manaea started out well with a scoreless top of the first and then gave up a RBI double to RF Eli White in the top of the second.

Manaea had a scoreless top of the third and then gave up another run in the top of the fourth getting beat by White once again after he hit a solo homer. 

Manea finished up strong with scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth and was taken out after the sixth.

His final line was six innings, four hits, two runs, 0 walks and six strikeouts.

RHP Adam Warren followed with a scoreless top of the seventh and then came back out for the top of the eighth, striking out the first two hitters he faced before giving up a solo homer to CF Michael Harris II on a hanging slider.

RHP Daniel Duerte threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first five innings against LHP Martin Perez until the bottom of the sixth after SS Bo Bichette doubled with one out and two batters later, 1B Mark Vientos drove in Bichette with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the ninth, they had a chance to score after LF Juan Soto led off with a double that was overturned after it was originally ruled a home run. Vientos then struck out and 2B Marcus Semien followed with a walk. However, catcher Francisco Alvarez came up next and grounded into a double play to end the game.

The offense was unable to come up with a timely hit and went 1-5 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 14 at home against the Braves at 1:40 p.m.

Mets Beat Braves 7-5 Behind 2 Homers from Bo Bichette and 1 homer from Juan Soto

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 7-5 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 31-38.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Bo Bichette and LF Juan Soto hit back-to-back solo homers.

In the bottom of the second, D.H. M.J. Melendez doubled with two outs and then catcher Luis Torrens followed with an infield single. 

RF Carson Benge was then hit by a pitch to load the bases and then Bichette came up and broke the game open with a grand slam.

In the bottom of the fourth, Melendez led off with a walk and Torrens followed with a single.

Benge then grounded into a fielder's choice to advance Melendez and Torrens to second and third and then Bichette drove in his sixth run of the game with a sacrifice fly.

RHP Nolan McLesn started out well with a 1-2-3 top of the first but ran into trouble in the top of the second.

McLean gave up a walk, error on a pick-off team attempt at first and another walk.

McLean then gave up a RBI single to RF Mike Yastrzemski and a third walk in the inning to load the bases with no out.

McLean was able to escape out of further trouble by striking out catcher Austin Wynns, getting LF Mauricio Dubon on an infield fly and struck out CF Michael Harris II to end the inning.

McLean was able to respond after that with a scoreless top of the third and another scoreless inning in the top of the fourth and was then taken out.

His final line was four innings, three hits, two runs, four walks and six strikeouts.

LHP Cionel Perez came in next in the top of the fifth retiring the first two hitters he faced and then gave up a solo homer to 1B Matt Olson.

Perez came back out for the top of the sixth and retired the first hitter he faced and then RHP Huascar Brazoban followed and had back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.

Perez picked up his third save of the season.

Brazoban stayed in for the top of the seventh and had another dominating inning with two more strikeouts as part of a 1-2-3 inning.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next in the top of the eighth and gave up a lead-off single and after a passed ball and ground-out, gave up a RBI single to 2B Ozzie Albies. Raley then struck out pinch-hitter Jorge Mateo and gave up a double to 3B Austin Riley and was taken out.

RHP Devin Williams came on for a four-out save and gave up a RBI infield single to pinch-hitter Eli White that 3B Brett Baty knocked down. Williams came back to strike out pinch-hitter Rowdy Tellez to end the inning.

Williams stayed in for the top of the ninth and after striking out the first hitter he faced, gave up a one-out single to Dubon after a 14-pitch at-bat. Williams was able to settle down after that and managed to strike out Harris and Olson to close out the game and pick up his 10th save of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, June 13 at home against the Braves at 4:10 p.m.

Mets Beat Cardinals 5-4 Powered By Juan Soto game-winning homer and strong bullpen

The New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 at Citi Field this afternoon to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 30-38.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after RF Carson Benge led off with a single and SS Bo Bichette followed with a two-run homer. Two batters later, 1B Jared Young hit a solo homer.

The offense was held scoreless for the next three innings until the bottom of the fifth after Soto doubled with one out and Young followed with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh, Soto hit a game-winning solo homer.

Mets RHP Christian Scott had a rocky first couple of innings after he gave up a solo homer to 1B Alec Burlerson in the top of the first and a solo homer to LF Lars Noosbar in the top of the second and later in the inning, a two-run homer to catcher Jimmy Crooks.

Scott was able to settle down after that and did not allow any more runs. He was able to get into the top of the fifth and was taken out with two outs in the inning.

Scott's final line was 4.2 innings, seven hits, four runs, one walk and six strikeouts.

LHP A.J. Minter followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Luke Weaver threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Devin Williams came on in the top of the ninth and closed it out with a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts to pick up his ninth save of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, June 12 at home against the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 p.m.
