RHP Nolan McLean had a dominating top of the first striking out the side, but then it fell apart from there.
McLean gave up a hit by pitch, walk and single to load the bases in the top of the second. McLean then gave up a run on a force-out after SS Bo Bichette made a slow glove flip to second base which caused a late throw to first and the run to score. McLean gave up a run on a wild pitch later in the inning.
In the top of the third, McLean gave up a solo homer to LF JJ Bleday.
It came apart for McLean in the top of the fourth after he gave up a two-run single to RF Spencer Steer and a two-run homer to the following catcher Tyler Stephenson and was then taken out.
McLean's final line was 3.1 scoreless innings, five hits, seven runs, two walks and six strikeouts.
RHP Austin Warren came in next with 1.2 scoreless innings.
RHP Jonathan Pinataro followed with 2.2 scoreless innings.
RHP Tobias Myers threw 1.1 scoreless innings.
The Met offense was held scoreless for the first five innings until 2B Marcus Semien homered to lead off the bottom of the sixth.
In the bottom of the seventh, Brett Baty doubled to lead off the inning and two batters later, D.H. Carson Benge drove in Baty with a RBI ground-out.
The offense continue to lack the clutch hit and went 0-6 with runners in scoring position leaving eight runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 26 at home against the Reds at 7:10 p.m.
