The New York Mets beat the Chicago White Sox 10-5 tonight at Rate Field and improved their record to 59-71.
The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after CF A.J. Ewing led off with a single and then stole second. Two batters later, RF Carson Benge drove in Ewing with a RBI single.
In the top of the third, 3B Bo Bichette hit a solo homer with one out and then Benge followed with a single. Later in the inning, Benge stole second and then LF Luis Robert Jr hit a two-run homer.
After a scoreless top of the fourth, Benge homered to lead off the top of the fifth and then 1B Jared Young followed with a double.
Two batters later, pinch-hitter Eric Wagaman drove in Young with a RBI single.
2B Marcus Semien followed with a RBI single.
In the top of the seventh, Robert Jr hit a solo homer for his second homer of the game.
In the top of the ninth, Young led off with a double and two batters later, pinch-hitter Luis Torrens hit a two-run homer.
Mets RHP Christian Scott started out well with a 1-2-3 bottom of the first and then gave up a solo homer to RF Braden Montgomery in the bottom of the second and came back to get back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.
In the bottom of the third, Scott gave up a lead-off homer to CF Trisan Peters that went off Benge's glove and then gave up two singles and a walk to load the bases. Scott allowed a sacririce fly to DH Andrew Benintendi, but was able to escape out of the inning without any further damage.
Scott then recovered to have a 1-2-3 bottom of the fourth but had more trouble in the bottom of the fifth after he gave up a lead-off hit by pitch and then two more walks to load the bases and then another walk to bring in a run and was taken out.
RHP Jonathan Pintaro came in next and struck out SS Colson Montgomery to end the inning. Scott's final line was 4.2 innings, five hits, four runs, four walks and six strikeouts.
Pintaro came back out for the bottom of the sixth, but he did not have same level of success after he gave up a lead-off single and walk and a sacrifice bunt. Pintaro then gave up an infield hit to LF Sam Antonacci to bring in a run and was taken out.
RHP Austin Warren followed and picked up last three outs in the inning. Warren stayed in for the bottom of the seventh and threw a scoreless inning. He threw 1.2 scoreless innings and picked up his second win.
