Mets Lose To Yankees 2-0 And Are Dominated By Yankee Pitching

The New York Mets lost to the New York Yankees 2-0 at Yankee Stadium this afternoon to lose two out of thee games in the series and dropped their record to 69-80.

Mets RHP Christian Scott got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off homer to DH Ben Rice.

Scott had a scoreless bottom of the second and then gave up another solo homer to catcher Austin Wells in the bottom of the third.

Scott did a fine job other than the two solo homers and finished up strong with scoreless innings in teh bottom of the fourth, fifth and sixth.

His final line was six innings, three hits, two runs, two walks and seven strikeouts.

LHP Nate Lavender followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Austin Warren came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense was dominated by Yankees ace RHP Cam Schlittler who threw six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and gave up only one hit. They were unable to score against relievers RHP Brent Hendrick, Paul Blackburn and closer David Bednar.

They managed only three hits and were 0-2 with runners in scoring position leaving five runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, September 14 back at home at Citi Field against the Baltimore Orioles at 7:10 p.m.
