Mets Rally To Beat Giants 4-2 With Two Homers in Bottom of Eighth

The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 4-2 this afternoon at Citi Field to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 65-78.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first seven innings and then came alive in the bottom of the eighth.

Pinch-hitter Brett Baty led off with a homer and then CF A.J. Ewing followed with a single. 

Catcher Luis Torrens then hit a sacrifice bunt to move Ewing to second and SS Francisco Lindor lined out to right field.

DH Juan Soto was then intentionally walked and 3B Bo Bichette came up next and delivered a game-winning three-run homer.

Mets RHP Chrisitian Scott dominated through the first 3.2 innings retiring his 11 hitters, but then with two outs in the top of the fourth, gave up thee straight singles which lead to two runs.

Scott was able to limit the damage in the top of the fourth and was taken out in the top of the fifth with two outs after picking up two strikeouts.

Scott's final line was 4.2 innings, four hits, two runs, 0 walks and seven strikeouts.

LHP Nate Lavender followed and picked up last out in the top of the fifth.

RHP Jonathan Pintaro came in next and threw two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.

RHP Tobias Myers followed and threw a scoreless top of the eighth. He picked up his first win of the season.

RHP Kodai Senga came on in the top of the ninth and closed it out with a 1-2-3 top of the ninth to pick up his sixth save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Monday, September 7 at the Miami Marlins at 1:10
