Mets Beat Giants 10-6 Powered By Five Homers

The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 10-6 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 64-77.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a single and two batters later, 3B Bo Bichette walked. 1B Mark Vientos followed with a three-run homer.

In the bottom of the second, catcher Francisco Alvarez hit a solo homer with one out and CF Nick Morabito followed with a walk and advanced to second on a balk. Lindor then reached on an error and LF Juan Soto grounded into a fielder's choice to bring in a run and then stole second.

Bichette came up next and hit a two-run homer.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the next three innings until the bottom of the sixth after 1B Jared Young led off with a walk and three batters later, Lindor hit a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the eighth, Alvarez led off with a homer for his second homer of the game.

Mets RHP Nolan McLean cruised through the first two innings and then ran into trouble in the top of the third.

McLean gave up a walk to SS Christian Koss and then gave up a single to hit to CF Drew Gilbert and a two-run double to the following hitter 1B Rafael Devers and was able to get out of the inning without any further damage.

McLean gave up back-to-back singles to start the top of the fourth and then retired the next three hitters he faced.

McLean got into trouble to start the top of the fifth with a lead-off double and then gave up a walk and single to load the bases.

He was able to get out of trouble with a strikeout and 4-6-3 double play.

McLean came back out for the top of the sixth and finished up strong with a 1-2-3 inning with a strike-out to end the inning.

His final line was six innings, six hits, two runs, four walks and seven strikeouts. He picked up his 11th win.

LHP Jefry Yan came in next in the top of the seventh and gave up a run in 0.2 innings and was then taken out.

RHP Austin Warren followed and picked up last out in the inning. Warren came back out for the top of the eighth and retired the first two hitters he faced and then gave up back-to-back singles and a three-run homer to Devers and was taken out after that.

RHP Robert Stock came in next and gave up a double before getting a lineout to end the inning.

RHP Kodai Senga came on in the top of the ninth and closed it out with a scoreless inning.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, September 5 at home against the Giants at 4:10 p.m.
