Mets Lose to Nationals 6-4 in Season Finale

The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 6-4 at Nationals Park in the last game of the season and finished up with a record of 74-88.

Mets LHP Sean Manaea had a rough final start allowing five runs on seven hits in six innings and blew a 4-1 lead. He gave up one walk with three strikeouts.

Mets RHP Austin Warren followed in the bottom of the seventh and gave up a RBI single by 3B Brady House.

LHP Cionel Perez threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense got on the board immediately in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Three batters later, RF Carson Benge drove in Lindor with a RBI single.

In the top of the second, catcher Luis Torrens walked with one out and two batters later, DH Ronny Mauricio hit a two-run homer for his third homer in his last three-bats. It was also the second homer in his last two days that he has batting righthanded. 

Lindor followed with a solo homer for his long awaited 300th career homer.

The offense was unable to score any more runs for the rest of the game and went 1-8 with runners in scoring position leaving nine runners on base.

Now that the season has come to an end, the entire Met organization will have the whole offseason to figure out what went wrong this season and figure out how to improve next year.
