Mets Lose to Rangers 3-1 With Four Hits

The New York Mets lost to the Texas Rangers 3-1 this afternoon at Globe Life Field to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 73-86.

Mets LHP Zac Thornton gave up a lead-off single to 2B Justin Foscue in the bottom of the first and then a two-run homer two batters later to 3B Josh Jung.

Thornton was able to settle down after that with a scoreless bottom of the second and then threw a 1-2-3 bottom of the third.

He worked around a lead-off double in the bottom of the fourth and did not allow the run to score.

Thornton finished up storng with a 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth and was then taken out. His final line was five innings, four hits, two runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

LHP Jeffrey Yan came in next in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a lead-off homer to SS Corey Seager and then gave up a walk and after retiring the next two hitters, gave up an infield hit and was then taken out.

RHP Austin Warren followed and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Jack Weisenburger came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a ground rule double and three batters later, RF Carson Benge drove in Lindor with a RBI single.

The offense did not do much after that and had only four hits and went 1-5 with runners in scoring position leaving three runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, September 25 at the Washington Nationals at 6:45 p.m.
