Mets Lose To Dodgers 4-2 due to poor bullpen and lack of offense

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 at Citi Field tonight and dropped their record to 43-61.

Mets LHP Sean Manaea started out well with three scoreless innings and then ran into trouble in the top of the fourth.

Manaea gave up back-to-back singles to 1B Freddie Freeman and SS Mookie Betts to start the inning and then gave up a sacrifice fly to 2B Miguel Rojas.

Manaea was able to settle down after that and got out of the inning without any more runs and had scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth and was then taken out.

His final line was six innings, six hits, one run, two walks and three strikeouts.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next in the top of the seventh and gave up a couple of singles and then a sacrifice fly to DH Shohei Ohtani.

LHP A.J. Minter followed in the top of the eighth and gave up a two-run homer to RF Kyle Tucker.

LHP Cionel Perez came on in the top of the ninth and threw a scoreless inning.

After a scoreless bottom of the first, CF Luis Robert Jr drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the second.

The Met offense did not do much after that outside of a solo homer by catcher Francisco Alvarez in the bottom of the eighth.

They went 0-3 with runners in scoring position leaving three runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Saturday, July 25 at home against the Dodgers at 7:15 p.m.
