Mets Beat Dodgers 8-3 Powered By Three-Run Homers From Tyrone Taylor and Marcus Semien

The New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-3 this afternoon at Citi Field to snap their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 44-62.

The Met offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first after CF A.J. Ewing led off with a double and SS Francisco Lindor followed with a RBI single.

The offense was held scoreless for the next four innings until the bottom of the sixth after RF Carson Benge led off with a walk and two batters later, pinch-hitter Luis Robert Jr walked. CF Tyrone Taylor came up next and delivered a three-run homer.

In the bottom of the seventh, Ewing led off with a walk and two batters later and advanced to second after SS Francisco Lindor followed with a ground-out. 3B Bo Bichette then reached on an infield hit and Ewing scored on a passed ball and Bichette advanced to second.

Two batters later, DH Jorge Polanco walked and 2B Marcus Semien followed by breaking the game open with a three-run homer.

Mets RHP Freddy Peralta had another difficult outing in what could be his final start in a Met uniform before the trading deadline on August 3.

His final line was four innings, six hits, three runs, (two earned runs), two walks and three strikeouts.

LHP Cionel Perez followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth. He picked up his fifth win of the season.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Luke Weaver came on in the top of the eighth and made an incredible play to get the last out at first base to escape a based loaded jam.

RHP Devin Williams closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, July 27 at home against the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 p.m.
