Mets Shutout Brewers 4-0 Behind Outstanding Start From Zac Thorton

The New York Mets beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 tonight at American Family Field and improved their record to 43-59.

After a scoreless top of the first, 1B Jared Young drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the second.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the next two innings until the top of the fifth after 3B Bo Bichette walked with two outs and then SS Francisco Lindor followed with a double. RF Carson Benge came up next and drove in Bichette and Lindor with a two-run double.

CF Luis Robert Jr added a solo homer in the top of the eighth.

LHP Zac Thornton had another outstanding start with six scoreless innings. He gave up three hits and one walk with two strikeouts. Thornton picked up his first Major League win and lowered his ERA to 1.93.

RHP Luke Weaver followed with a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

LHP Brooks Raley came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

Former Brewer RHP Devin Williams came on in the bottom of the ninth and closed it out with a scoreless inning.

The Mets next gams is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, July 22 at the Brewers at 2:10 p.m.
