Mets Lose To Dodgers 4-3 after late rally comes up short

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 tonight at Citi Field for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 43-62.

Mets RHP Nolan McLean started out well with two scoreless innings and then ran into trouble in the top of the third. 

McLean gave up a lead-off homer to RF Kyle Tucker and two batters later, gave up a single to catcher Dalton Rushing. McLean was then let down by his defense after 1B Brett Baty made a throwing error which allowed Rushing to advance to third and DH Shohei Ohrani to reach first.

McLean gave up a RBI ground-out to the following hitter CF Andy Pages.  McLean then gave up a single to 1B Freddie Freeman to advance Pages to third and then catcher Francisco Alvarez committed a passed ball to allow Pages to score.

McLean was able to settle down for a brief inning with a 1-2-3 top of the fourth, but in the top of the fifth gave up a lead-off double to LF Tesoscar Hernandez and later in the inning, a RBI single to Pages.

McLean had a scoreless top of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, seven hits, four runs (two earned runs), two walks and seven strikeouts.

LHP Daniel Duerte followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the seventh and eighth.

RHP Huascar Brazoban threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings against RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto stranding two baserunners in the bottom of the first and third innings.

They broke through in the bottom of the fifth after 1B Brett Baty and catcher Francisco Alvarez singled to lead off the inning and three batters later, 3B Bo Bichette drove in Baty with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the eighth, RF Carson Benge led off with a hit by pitch and CF Luis Robert Jr followed with a walk. 1B Jorge Polanco and 2B Marcus Semien struck out, but then pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor delivered with a two-run double. Alvarez followed with an intentional walk, but LF A.J. Ewing struck out to end the inning.

In the ninth inning, they went down 1-2-3.

The Met offense went 2-11 with runners in scoring position leaving 10 runners on base,
