Mets RHP Christian Scott dominated through the first five innings, but then ran into trouble in the top of the sixth after he gave up a lead-off double to SS Jim Jarvis and then an infield hit to catcher Drake Baldwin.
Scott came back to strike out DH Ronald Acuna Jr, but then gave up a RBI single to 1B Matt Olson. Scott was able to limit the damage to one run and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was six innings, five hits, one run, one walk and seven strikeouts. Scott lowered his ERA to 2.99.
LHP A.J. Minter followed with a scoreless top of the seventh.
LHP Cionel Perez came in next and threw a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Daniel Duarte appeared next and threw a scoreless top of the ninth.
The Met offense did nothing all night against LHP Chris Sale and sat CF A.J. Ewing, 1B Jared Young and DH Jorge Polanco in the second game.
They had only two hits and left three runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday, July 30 at home against the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m.
