The New York Mets defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 12-2 last night and improved their record to 20-18.. In the bottom of second inning, RHP Noah Syndergarrd drove in the first run of the game with an RBI double. In the bottom of third inning, the offense broke the game with five runs. RF Jay Bruce led off the inning with a double and then catcher Devin Mesoraco drew a walk and then RF Noah Syndergarrd singled to load the bases. Syndergarrd drove in his second run of the game with an sac fly. SS Amed Rosario followed with an RBI double. Two batters later, CF Juan Lagares hit a two-run double. SS Asdrubal Cabrera hit a RBI double. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Rosario drove in his second run of the game with an RBI on an infield hit. LF Brandon Nimmo drove in his first run of the game with an RBI single. Lagares drove in his third run of the game on an infield hit. In the bottom of the eighth inning, 2B Luis Guillorme drove in his first career RBI with an single. Catcher Devin Mesoraco hit a two-run homer.
RHP Noah Syndergarrd started out well striking out the side in the top of the first inning. Syndergarrd pitched another scoreless inning in the top of the second, but gave up two runs in the top of the third inning on a two-run single to 2B Yangervis Solarte. He bounced back with scoreless innings in the top of the fourth and fifth innings. His final line was two runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in five innings. He picked up his third win. RHP Seth Lugo followed with three scoreless innings in the top of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. RHP Jacob Rhyme pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The Mets next game is at 1:10 P.M. this afternoon against the Blue Jays.
