Mets vs. Brewers Game 48 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 17-6 today for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 25-23. The offense got off to a quick start after 3B Wilmer Flores drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. Catcher Devin Mesoraco drove in a run with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. SS Jose Reyes walked with the based loaded to bring home another run in the top of the first. LF Brandon Nimmo hit a solo homer in the top of the second inning. CF Michael Conforto also hit a solo homer in the top of the third inning. Reyes drove in another with an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning.

LHP Jason Vargas had a difficult outing and struggling after he was given a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and wasn't able to hold the lead. Vargas gave up five runs on six hits on three hits in three innings. He had five strikeouts and two walks. RHP Jacob Rhyme came in next and gave up two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. RHP A.J. Ramos gave up three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a solo homer to catcher Erik Kratz and a two-run double to RF Christian Yelich. RHP Chris Flexen gave up seven runs (three earned) and three walks in two innings. LHP Jerry Blevins had to come in to get the last out in the bottom of the seventh inning and then pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the Brewers at 2:10 P.M. in the final game of the series.
