New York Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson announced today that the team asked RHP Matt Harvey to accept a minor league deal, but he refused. Alderson also announced that Harvey will be designated for assignment tomorrow. Harvey was 0-2 this year with a 7.00 ERA in 27 innings. He was sent to the bullpen after four starts and struggled in his four relief outings, including giving up five runs in two innings in his last relief appearance on Thursday.
