Mets vs. Braves Game 27 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 3-2 tonight and dropped their record to 17-10. RHP Noah Syndergarrd got off to a difficult start allowing three runs in the top of the first inning. Syndergarrd gave up a two-run double to 1B Freddie Freeman and an RBI single to RF Nick Markakis. He settled down after that and picked out 2B Ender Inciate in the top of the second inning to get out of the jam. Syndergarrd loaded the bases in the top of the third inning, but avoided further damage after getting Braves LHP Mike Soroka to ground out. In the top of the fourth inning, he retired the first two hitters before giving up singles to LF Ronald Acuna Jr and 1B Freddie Freeman with two outs before striking out Markakis to end the inning. In the top of the fifth inning, Syndergarrd worked around a 1 out walk to SS Dansby Swanson. He finished up a strong note in the top of the sixth inning with a 1-2-3 inning. His final line was: 6 innings pitched, 10 hits, 3 runs, 3 earned runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. LHP Jerry Blevins came in next and got out two lefties 1B Freddie Freeman and RF Nick Markakis and then gave up a single to catcher Kurt /Suzuki and was then taken out. RHP A. J. Ramos appeared next and gave up singles to Swanson and third baseman Ryan Flaherty, but was helped out by his defense after he threw out Suzuki at the plate trying to score. RHP Seth Lugo followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the eighth and ninth innings.

The Mets offense struggled with runners in scoring position and was unable to score until the bottom of the sixth inning. LF Yoenis Cespedes drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer. In the bottom of the eighth inning, 2B Asdrubal Cabrera led off with a single, but was unable to advance any further LHP A.J. Minter retired CF Michael Conforto, LF Yoenis Cespedes and RF Jay Bruce. In the bottom of the ninth inning, third baseman Todd Frazier lead off with a single and 1B Adrian Gonzalez also got on due to a misplayed pop up. SS Amed Rosario then struck out, but a wild pitch moved Frazier and Gonzalez to second and third with one out. Pinch hitter Wilmer Flores then grounded out which brought in a run. Pinch hitter Jose Reyes flew out with the tying run on second base to end the game.

The Mets next game against the Braves is tomorrow night at 7:10 P.M.
