Devin Mesoraco
The New York Mets have traded RHP Matt Harvey to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for catcher Devin Mesoraco. 3B Todd Frazier has been placed on the 10-day DL with a left hamstring strain and reliever RHP Anthony Swarsak has been moved to the 60-day DL as corresponding roster moves. Mesoraco is in the last year of his contract and is owed $13.125 million this season. The Reds will be playing the remainder of his contract and the Mets will be playing the remainder of Harvey's $5.625 million. Mesoraco was an All-Star in 2014 and has never played more than 114 games in a season and played in 95 games in the last three seasons from 2015-2017. He lost his starting catching job last year due to injuries and poor performance. In 18 games this year, he has hit .220 with one home run, two doubles and three RBI's. Defensively, Mesoraco is ranked 58th out of 73 catchers according to Baseball Prospectus. He has thrown out 22 % out of potential base-stealers this season and has thrown out 25 % for his career.
