Mets vs. Diamondbacks Game 41 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 tonight for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 22-19. CF Michael Conforto drove home the first two runs of the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning. Catcher Devin Mesoraco tied the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning. 1B Wilmer Flores hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning.

LHP Steven Matz started out well with a scoreless inning in the top of the first. Matz gave up a run in the top of the second inning on a RBI single to John Ryan Murphy, but pitched a scoreless top of the third inning. He gave up a solo homer to 1B Paul Goldschmidt in the top of the fourth inning and then another homer to Murphy, this time a two-run shot and was taken out after the inning. His final line was four runs on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and pitched two scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth. Lugo extended his scoreless streak to 13 scoreless innings. RHP Paul Sewald pitched a scoreless top of the seventh inning. RHP A.J. Ramos pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning and picked up his 2nd win.

The Mets final game against the Diamondbacks is tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 P.M.
