Mets vs. Rockies Game 65 Recap

New York Mets RHP Noah Syndegarrd (Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com)

The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-1 this afternoon to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 32-33. RHP Noah Syndergarrd had his best outing of the year with 7 scoreless innings. Syndergarrd was in complete command all afternoon and had a lively fastball up to 98 mph with a sharp curveball and change-up and less use of his slider. Noah has been focusing more on getting quick outs and not trying to blow hitters away with strikeouts and elevating pitch counts. He looked as good as he did in 2016 when he was an All-Star. If he and RHP Jacob deGrom pitch this well, it could bode well for the second half of the year and help them go on a run. His final line was 7 innings, 1  hit, 2 walks and seven strikeouts. He picked up his fourth win and lowered his ERA to 4.45. RHP Jeurys Familia came in next and threw a scoreless top of the eighth inning. LHP Hector Santiago came on in the top of the ninth inning and gave up an RBI double to CF David Dahl, but struck out 3B Nolan Arenado to end the game.

SS Amed Rosario singled to lead off in the bottom of the first inning and RF Michael Conforto followed with a double. 1B Pete Alonso struck out, but 3B Todd Frazier came through with a three-run homer. In the bottom of the fourth inning, 2B Adeiny Hecchavarria singled and stole second with two outs and CF Carlos Gomez drove him with an RBI single. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Rosatio led off with a single and Frazier later drove him with an RBI double. LF J.D. Davis followed with an RBI triple.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night against their crosstown rivals in the Bronx against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
