Mets vs. Diamondbacks Game 57 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 last night and improved their record to 28-29. 3B Todd Frazier drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the top of the second. 2B Adeiny Heccavaria followed with a two-run double. In the top of the eighth, Frazier and Hecchavaria singled with two outs. J.D. Davis pinch hit for Juan Lagares and drove in the tying run with an infield hit. CF Carlos Gomez drove in the go-ahead run with a double down the line.

RHP Zack Wheeler threw seven solid innings allowing four runs on seven hits on two home runs by Ketel Marte and rookie first baseman Christian Walker. Wheeler struck out nine batters and walked none. He picked up his fifth win. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Robert Gsellman came on in the bottom of the ninth instead of closer Edwin Diaz and threw a scoreless inning and picked up his first save of the year.

The Mets next game is tonight at the Diamondbacks at 10:10 p.m.
