The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 7-5 tonight for their fourth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 37-43. RHP Walker Lockett gave up a lead-off homer to CF Scott Kingery, but retired nine out of the next ten hitters he faced. Lockett gave up another solo homer to 1B Rhys Hoskins in the bottom of the fourth inning, but managed to not give up any more runs in the fourth and threw a scoreless bottom of the fifth inning and was keeping the Phillies off balanced and getting ground balls due to his change-up and curveball. In the bottom of the sixth inning, it all came apart for Lockett after he walked RF Bryce Harper and then a one-out to catcher J.T Realmunto and was then taken out. His final line was four runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 4.1 innings. RHP Wilmer Font came in next and gave up an RBI ground-out to LF Jay Bruce. Font was unable to get out of the inning after he gave up an infield RBI single to 2B Cesar Hernandez and a two-run homer to 3B Maikel Franco. He then gave up another homer to the following hitter pinch-hitter Brad Miller. Font gave up three runs in 0.1 of an inning. RHP Robert Gsellman had to come in and struck out SS Jean Segura to end the bottom of the sixth and stayed in for the bottom of the seventh and threw a scoreless inning. Gsellman recorded four outs and gave up no runs. RHP Chris Flexen threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning.

RF Jeff McNeil singled to lead off the game and 1B Pete Alonso hit an infield single. 2B Robinson Cano drove in McNeil with an RBI single and CF Michael Conforto followed with a sacrifice fly. SS Amed Rosario hit a solo homer in the top of the second inning. 1B Dominic Smith hit a solo homer in the top of the third inning. In the top of the sixth, Rosario singled, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error.  McNeil drove him in with an RBI single. McNeil had four hits on the night and is now hitting .339 for the third highest batting average in the National League.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Phillies at 7:05 p.m.
