The New York Mets drafted third baseman Brett Baty from Lake Texas High School with the No 12 overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft. According to Baseball America, Baty is regarded as one of the best pure hitters in the draft with impressive strength and plus bat speed and an advanced approach at the plate. He is hitting over .600 with 19 homers and 50 RBI's in his senior year. Baty is 6-3 and 218 pounds and turned 19 last November. Some scouts feel that his defense has improved enough to keep him at third base instead of moving him to third base. MLB.com rates him as a 60 grade arm.
