Mets vs. Reds Game 30 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Cincinnati Reds 1-0 tonight and fell to 15-15 on the season. RHP Jacob deGrom rebounded after three rough outings where he had a 9.69 ERA with seven scoreless innings. deGrom allowed three hits with two walks and six strikeouts, but had a no-decision. LHP Ryan O'Rourke made his season debut in the top of the eighth after being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse and retired the first two batters he faced before walking LF Jesse Winker and was then taken out. RHP Seth Lugo had to come in and retired RF Yasiel Puig on a hard liner to LF Jeff McNeil to end the inning. RHP Edwin Diaz's struggles from Monday continued in the top of the ninth inning after he gave up a solo homer to SS Jose Inglesias.

The offense was quiet all night and had three hits against Reds starter Anthony DeScalfini on a single by 1B Pete Alonso in the bottom of the first inning, McNeil doubled in the bottom of the third and 2B Robinson Cano doubled in the the bottom of the sixth. After DeScalfini was taken out in the sixth, they had two singles against the Reds bullpen.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the Reds at 12:10 p.m. in the last game of the series.
