Mets vs. Marlins Game 43 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 8-6 tonight and dropped their record to 20-23. RHP Jacob deGrom had a rough outing tonight due to lack of command with his secondary pitches. His final line was 7 runs (6 earned), and nine hits in five innings. deGrom's ERA went up to 3.98. RHP Paul Sewald came in next and gave up a run in two innings. RHP Jeurys Familia threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning.

1B Pete Alonso got the offense on the board early with a solo homer in the top of the first inning. After that the bats went quiet until the top of the seventh after pinch-hitter J.D. Davis hit a two-run homer. Alonso hit a solo homer leading off the top of the eighth for his second homer of the night and 14th on the year. Three batters later, CF Juan Lagares came up with the based loaded and hit an RBI single. LF Brandon Nimmo hit a sac fly later in the inning. In the top of the ninth, catcher Wilson Ramos doubled against Marlins closer Sergio Romo with two out, but pinch-hitter Adieny Hechavarria struck out to end the game.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at the Marlins at 4:10 p.m.
