The New York Mets lost to the New York Yankees 4-3 tonight for their eight consecutive loss and and dropped their run to 27-34. LHP Steven Matz had a decent outing and gave up a two-run homer to 3B Miguel Andujar and a solo homer to 2B Glyber Torres and wound up with a no-decision. His final line was three runs on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts in six innings. RHP Robert Gsellman came in next and pitched a scoreless top of the seventh inning. RHP Anthony Swarsak followed and gave up a solo homer to RF Aaron Judge in the top of the eighth inning. LHP Jerry Blevins pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The offense got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first inning after 3B Todd Frazier hit a solo homer, LF Brandon Nimmo tripled and 2B Asdrubal Cabrera hit a two-run homer. After that the bats were quiet for the rest of the night. In the bottom of the ninth inning, RF Jay Bruce and catcher Kevin Plawecki walked with two outs, but pinch hitter Jose Reyes popped out to end the game.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night against the Yankees in the final game of the series at 8:05 P.M.
