RHP Seth Lugo |
The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies 10-8 last night for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 31-40. RHP Seth Lugo struggled in his first start at Coors Field. Lugo gave up six runs (three earned) in three innings. He also gave up seven baserunners. Lugo was hurt by the thin air in Colorado, but was also hurt his defense. RHP Paul Sewald came in next and pitched a scoreless inning in the bottom of the fourth. RHP Robert Gsellman gave up a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. RHP Anthony Swarsak gave up a three-run homer to CF Charlie Blackmon, in the bottom of the sixth inning, but came back out for the bottom of the seventh inning and pitched a scoreless inning. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless inning in the bottom of the eighth.
The offnese got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning and jumped on the board early with three runs. CF Michael Conforto drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single and catcher Devin Mesoraco hit a two-run double. 3B Todd Frazier hit a RBI single in the top of the second inning. In the top of the fifth inning, 1B Wilmer Flores drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. RF Brandon Nimmo drove in a run with a based loaded walk. 2B Asdrubal Cabrera hit a two-run single.
The Mets next game is at 3:10 P.M. tomorrow afternoon against the Rockies in the final game of the series.
