LHP Jason Vargas

Last night, the New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-3 and dropped their record to 28-37. LHP Jason Vargas got the start and wasn't as bad as some of his prior outings. Vargas gave up thee runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings. RHP Hansel Robles came in next and pitched a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning and came back out for the bottom of the seventh inning. Robles walked his first batter in the seventh and then recorded two outs before being pulled. LHP Jerry Blevins followed and wound up loading the bases. RHP Paul Sewald had to come in to try to get out of the inning, but instead gave up a walk with the bases loaded to bring home a run. RHP Jacob Rhyme gave up two solo homers in the bottom of the eighth inning.
LF Brandon Nimmo drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer in the top of the first inning. After that, the bats went quiet to a walk and two hits until CF Michael Conforto hit a solo homer in the top of the sixth inning. SS Amed Rosario also hit a solo homer in the top of the eighth inning. Overall, the offense only had four hits and two walks and left six men on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night at 9:40 P.M. against the Diamondbacks.
