RHP Jacob deGrom

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-3 tonight for their fifth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 31-43. RHP Jacob deGrom gave up three earned runs on five hits in six innings. He allowed five walks and had six strikeouts. deGrom's ERA went up to 1.69. It wasn't his best start, but he was still able to get his team in the game. RHP Robert Gsellman came in next and pitched a scoreless top of the seventh inning, but gave up 5 runs in the top of the eighth inning on a sac fly to SS Enrique Hernandez and a grand slam to pinch-hitter Matt Kemp. RHP Drew Smith made his ML debut in the top of the ninth inning and pitched a scoreless inning.
RF Jose Bautista drove in the first run of the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning. 1B Wilmer Flores hit a go-ahead RBI single in the next inning. Bautista hit a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning, his second consecutive game with a homer. The offense was 2-12 with runners in scoring position.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the Dodgers 1:10 P.M. in the final game of the series/
