LHP Jerry Blevins

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-7 today in 11 innings for their sixth consecutive loss dropped their record to 31-44. LHP Jerry Blevins made a start start today and LHP Jason Vargas went on the DL and gave up back-to-back homer to start the game to SS Enrique Hernandez and 3B Max Muncy. Blevins settled down after that and retired the next six batters he faced. RHP Tim Peterson came in next and pitched a scoreless top of the third inning, but gave up a solo homer to 1B Clay Bellinger in the top of the fourth inning. RHP Chris Beck followed and pitched a scoreless top of the fifth inning, but gave up a homer to Hernandez in the top of the sixth inning, his second of the game. RHP Anthony Swarsak gave up a homer to CF Joc Peterson in the top of the seventh inning and gave up a two-run homer to Bellinger in the top of the eighth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless inning in the top of the ninth inning. RHP Drew Smith followed with a scoreless inning in the top of the tenth. RHP Chris Flexen gave up a homer to former Met 3B Justin Turner in the top of the eleventh inning.
Catcher Kevin Plawecki drove home the first run of the game with a RBI double in the bottom of the second inning. 1B Wilmer Flores drove in a run with an RBI double in the bottom of the third inning. 2B Asdrubal Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Plawecki hit a three-run homer to tie the game, his first of the season. After that the bats were shut down by the Dodgers bullpen for the last three innings.
Injury NewsOutfielder Brandon Nimmo left the game in the bottom of the fifth inning after he was hit on the right hand by a pitch. It was the second time he was hit in today's game and 12th overall this season. X-rays were negative and he had some soreness on his pinkie.
