Last night, the New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1 and improved their record to 29-38. In the top of the second inning, CF Michael Conforto got the offense started with a three-run homer. In the next inning, SS Amed Rosario scored on a wild pitch. In the top of the sixth inning, Conforto came through again with an RBI double for his fourth RBI of the night. This was the first time in 11 games that the Mets have scored more than three runs and they also recorded 10 hits, which is the most hits that they had in a single game since May 29th against the Braves.

LHP Steven Matz had another solid outing allowing one run on six hits in 6.2 innings. He gave up one walk and had three strikeouts. He picked up his third win. RHP Robert Gsellman came in in relief in the bottom of the seventh inning with two men on base and two outs. Gsellman hit the first batter he faced to load the bases, but then was able to escape out of further trouble after he was to generate a ground-ball by SS Nick Ahmed to end the inning. RHP Anthony Swarsak closed it with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth inning in a non-save situation and struck out all three batters he faced.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at 4:10 P.M. against the Diamondbacks in the final game of the series.
