Mets vs. Yankees Game 95 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the New York Yankees 7-5 tonight and improved their record to 40-55. RF Brandon Nimmo led off in the top of the first with a walk and then 2B Asdrubal Cabrera drove him with an RBI double. LF Michael Conforto and 3B Jose Bautista also hit RBI doubles in the top of the first. DH Yoenis Cespedes hit a solo homer in his second at-bat since returning from the disabled list in the top of the third inning. Conforto drove in another run in the top of the fifth on an RBI single. Catcher Devin Mesoraco also hit an RBI single in the top of the fifth. Conforo added another RBI his third of the night in the top of the ninth with a sacrifice fly.

RHP Noah Syndergarrd made his second start since coming off the disabled list and threw two scoreless innings in the bottom of the first and second innings. Syndergarrd gave up a run in the bottom of the third inning on a sacrifice fly by RF Giancarlo Stanton, but threw two more scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning. His final line was one run on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks. He picked up his sixth win and lowered his ERA to 2.89. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and gave up a two-run single to 2B Neil Walker, but was able to get out of a based loaded jam in the seventh. RHP Robert Gsellman gave up two unearned runs in the bottom of the eighth inning after SS Amed Rosario made an error, but pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning and picked up his fifth save,

The Mets next game is at 1:10 P.M. tomorrow against the Yankees.
