Mets vs. Nationals Game 94 Recap

RHP Corey Oswalt

The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 6-1 this afternoon and dropped their record to 39-55 in their final game before the All-Star break. RHP Corey Oswalt had the best start of his young career. Oswalt gave up one run on two hits in five innings. He gave up no walks and had one strikeouts. He was taken out after five innings and only 59 pitches. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and pitched a scoreless top of the sixth inning. RHP Anthony Swarsak followed and gave up two runs in the top of the seventh inning. RHP Tim Peterson also gave up 2 runs. LHP Jerry Blevins gave up a run in the seventh and got the last out in the inning. RHP Jacob Rhyme pitched a scoreless top of the eighth. RHP Tim Bashlot pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.

The offense struggled all day and managed five hits. 3B Jose Reyes drove in the only run in the bottom of the second inning after he grounded into a fielder's choice.

Injury News
2B Asdrubal Cabrera left the game in the top of the eighth after he injured his hand in the prior inning.

The Mets have four days off and return to action on Friday night July 20th against the Yankees at 7:10 P.M.
