Mets vs. Yankees Game 33 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the New York Yankees 8-7 this afternoon in the first game of the doubleheader and dropped their record to 15-18.  The offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until the top of the fourth when 1B Pete Alonso hit an RBI single. Catcher Wilson Ramos followed with an RBI single.  In the top  of the fifth inning, DH Robinson Cano hit a two-run homer.  RF Michael Conforto drove in catcher Wilson Ramos and SS Andres Giminez in the top the sixth. Alonso drove in another run on a based loaded hit by pitch in the top of the seventh.

RHP Rick Porcello had a decent outing allowing two runs on four hits with two walks in five innings. LHP Justin Wilson came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning.  RHP Jared Hughes came on in the bottom of the seventh and loaded the bases and gave up a two-run single to DH Luke Volt and was taken out. RHP Edwin Diaz then came out and threw a wild pitch which brought in another run and a two-run homer to CF Aaron Hicks which tied the game.  Diaz gave up a walk-off single to 3B Gio Ursela in the bottom of the eighth.

The Mets next game is later tonight against the Yankees in second game of doubleheader.
