The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2 this afternoon and were swept in their three-game series and dropped their record to 9-14. RHP Rick Porcello gave up three straight hits in the bottom of the first which brought home a run. Porcello settled down after that and threw a scoreless bottom of the second inning and another scoreless inning in the bottom of the third after CF Billy Hamilton threw out RF Bryce Harper trying to advance to third base. He threw two more scoreless innings after that in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. It all unraveled for Porcello in the bottom of the sixth after catcher J.T. Realmuto led off with a double and two batters later, 3B Alec Bohm also hit a double to bring in Realmuto. LF Andrew McCutchen then came up and hit a two-run homer and Porcello was taken out after the inning. His final line was 6 innings, 10 hits, 4 runs, 0 walks and 6 strikeouts. RHP Jared Hughes came in next in the bottom of the seventh and 2B Jean Segura reached second base in the bottom of the seventh after 3B J.D. Davis made a throwing error. Segura was taken out after he injured himself and former Met Neil Walker came into the game to pinch run and advanced to second base after catcher Wilson Ramos committed a passed ball. Hughes struck out 1B Rhys Hoskins and walked Harper intentionally and was able to get Realmuto to hit a ground ball to Davis, but Davis double clutched the throw, which allowed Realmuto to reach first. SS Didi Gregarious followed with a RBI single. RHP Seth Lugo threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning.

The offense didn't do much against former Met RHP Zack Wheeler and were hurt by some base-running mishaps such as in the top of the second inning after catcher Wilson Ramos hit a dribbler to Bohm at third base who threw it over to 1B Hoskins head, SS Andres Giminez tried to score all the way from first base and was thrown out at home trying to score from first. In the top of the third inning, 2B Luis Guillorme drew a leadoff walk and moved to second base on a sac bunt by CF Billy Hamilton. LF Brandon Nimmo and RF both then struck out to end the inning. 3B J.D. Davis singled to lead off the top of the fourth inning and 1B Dom Smith flew out. DH Robinson Cano singled to move Davis to second, but Giminez lined out. Catcher Wilson Ramos was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Guillorme continued his hot hitting with a two-run double, but Ramos was thrown out trying to advance to third base to end the inning. Cano doubled with two outs in the top of the seventh, but Giminez hit a ground-ball back to Wheeler to end the inning. Davis doubled with two outs in the top of the eighth, but Smith grounded out into the shift to end the inning. In the top of the ninth, they went down 1-2-3, but Jeff McNeil was able to pinch hit and lined out to right field for the last out.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m.
