The New York Mets beat the New York Yankees 4-3 tonight to sweep the doubleheader at Yankee Stadium and improved their record to 15-16. In the bottom of the first inning with one out, RF Michael Conforto doubled and two batters later, LF Dominic Smith hit an RBI double to bring in Conforto. The bats went quiet after that until the top of the fifth inning after 2B Jeff McNeil led off with a double and SS Luis Guillorme followed with a walk. Catcher Ali Sanchez grounded into a double play, but CF Brandon Nimmo came through with an RBI double.  In the bottom of the seventh inning (final inning in a doubleheader this season), McNeil led off and had an outstanding at-bat against Yankees closer LHP Aroldis Chapman and drew a walk and pinch-hitter Amed Rosario delivered one of the biggest hits of this year with a two-run walk off homer.

LHP David Peterson made his first start since August 13th after returning from the IL with shoulder soreness. Peterson started out well with two scoreless innings, but he lost command in the bottom of the third and walked three hitters including catcher Gary Sanchez with the based loaded and gave up three runs. He was able to recover and get LF Mike Taufman to ground into a double play to end the inning. Peterson then threw a scoreless top of the fourth and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 4 innings, 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. RHP Jeurys Familia followed with a scoreless top of the fifth inning. RHP Brad Brach came in next and threw a scoreless top of the sixth inning. RHP Jared Hughes threw a scoreless top of the seventh inning and picked up his first win.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at Yankee Stadium at 1:05 p.m.
