Mets vs. Twins Game 148 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins 3-2 in 12 innings last night. They have won two consecutive games and improved their record to 79-69. With the San Francisco Giants lost to the St. Louis Cardinals, they are now tied with the Giants for the first wild card spot in the National League. CF Curtis Granderson had a huge night with two homers. He had the game-tying home run in the bottom of the eleventh inning and a walk-off homer in the bottom of the twelfth inning. LF Yoenis Cespedes added an RBI single.

RHP Seth Lugo went 5 innings and allowed one run on four hits. He gave up four walks and had two strikeouts. He wound up with a no-decision. LHP Josh Smoker pitched a scoreless top of the sixth inning.  RHP Fernando Salas and LHP Jerry Blevins combined to pitch a scoreless top of the seventh inning. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning. RHP Hansel Robles allowed a run in two innings. LHP Josh Edgin pitched a scoreless top of the twelfth inning. He picked up his first win of the season.
