The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-4 tonight to win their sixth consecutive game and improve their record to 75-66. They remain a 1/2 game ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild in the National League. CF Curtis Granderson had a big game with 3 RBI's. Granderson hit a 2 run homer and RBI single to tie the game in the top of the eighth inning. LF Yoenis Cespedes hit a sacrifice fly. Kelly Johnson hit a pinch hit double to give the Mets the lead in the top of the eighth. Michael Conforto was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth to score another run and give the Mets a 6-4 lead.
RHP Robert Gsellman gave up four runs in five innings, He allowed two walks and had six strikeouts. He picked up a no-decision. RHP Jim Henderson started the bottom of the sixth inning, but LHP Josh Smoker came in and pitched a scoreless inning. RHP Hansel Robles pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. RHP Addison Reed pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning and picked up his 48th save.
