Mets vs. Phillies Game 154 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 10-5 to win their second consecutive game and improve their record to 82-72. They are now 1.5 games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for the first wild card spot and a 1/2 game ahead of the San Francisco Giants.

The Mets offense exploded for 10 runs. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit a RBI double. CF Curtis Granderson hit a RBI single. 2B Kelly Johnson hit a 2 run single. RF Michael Conforto hit a 3 run homer. CF Juan Lagares reached on an error which brought home a run. Eric Campbell hit a pinch hit RBI single. T.J. Rivera added a sacrifice fly.

RHP Gabriel Ynoa started the game and lasted only 2 innings. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits. He gave up one walk and one strikeout. RHP Logan Verrett came in next and allowed one run on two hits in two innings. He had two walks and two strikeouts. LHP Hosh Smoker followed and allowed 2 runs on one hit in the top of the fifth. He had one walk and two strikeouts. He picked up his third win of the season. RHP Erik Goedell appeared next and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. LHP  Josh Edgin allowed one hit in the top of the seventh. RHP Hansel Robles closed it out with 2 2/3 scoreless innings. He had three strikeouts. He picked up his first save of the season.
