The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves tonight 7-3 to snap their 6 game winning streak and drop their record to 80-70. They remain 1.5 games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League wild card race and 1/2 game ahead of the San Francisco Giants. RHP Noah Syndergarrd had a rough outing after he allowed 5 runs in 3 2/3 innings. Syndergarrd gave up 5 hits and 3 walks. After Syndergarrd was taken out, LHP Sean Gilmartin came in and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. LHP Josh Edgin allowed 2 runs in the top of the seventh inning. RHP Hansel Robles came in next and recorded the last out in the top of the seventh. RHP Logan Verrett pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Rafael Montero pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The Mets offense struggled all night, but managed to have a two run homer from rookie 2B T.J, Rivera. This is the second consecutive game Rivera has homered and his third homer overall since being called up. 1B James Loney added an RBI double.
