The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phllies 9-8 in 11 innings to snap their three game losing streak and improve their record to 81-72. They remain tied with the San Francisco Giants for the first wild card spot. This was arguably the best win of the Mets season since they had two dramatic comebacks late in the game. RHP Seth Lugo started the game and allowed three runs on 4 hits in 5 innings. He gave up 2 walks and had 4 strikeouts. He picked up a no-decision. LHP Sean Gilmartin came in next and got the first two outs in the top of the sixth. RHP Erik Goedell recorded the last out in the top of the sixth. RHP Fernando Salas pitched a scoreless seventh. RHP Addison Reed allowed three runs in the top of the eighth inning. RHP Hansel Robles came in next and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. LHP Josh Edgin got the last out in the top of the 9th. RHP Jeurys Familia came in next and pitched 1 1/3 innings. He allowed 2 runs in the top of the eleventh inning. RHP Jim Henderson recorded the last out in the top of the eleventh inning and picked up his first win of the season.
The Mets offense had two clutch home runs by SS Asdrubal Cabrera and 3B Jose Reyes. Cabrera hit a 3 run walk-off homer in the bottom of the eleventh inning. Reyes hit a 2 run homer to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. LF Yoenis Cespedes had 2 RBI's with a RBI single and RBI double. RF Curtis Granderson added a two run homer.
