The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 10-8 to snap their two game winning streak and drop their record to 82-73. They are now a 1/2 game ahead of the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals in the National League wild card race. LHP Sean Gilmartin started the game and gave up 5 runs on 4 hits in only 2/3 of an inning. RHP Rafael Montero came in next and also allowed 5 runs in 3 1/3 innings. LHP Josh Edgin came in next and pitched a scoreless fifth. RHP Jim Henderson pitched a scoreless sixth. LHP Josh Smoker pitched a scoreless seventh. RHP Fernando Salas pitched a scoreless eighth. The Mets offense had a furious comeback after being down 10-0. In the bottom of the fifth, T.J. Rivera hit a RBI single. Brandon Nimmo hit an RBI double. Ty Kelly hit a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the sixth, Gavin Cecchini hit an RBI double for his first Major League RBI. TJ Rivera hit another RBI single. In the bottom of the eighth, Cecchini hit another RBI double. In the bottom of the ninth, Jay Bruce hit a solo homer, but that was as close as the Mets would get.
