The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals 5-1 to take two games out of three in the series and improve their record to 71-66. They remain one game behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild card spot in the National League. CF Curtis Granderson had a big night with three RBI's. He hit a sacrifice fly and two run homer. RF Jay Bruce also hit a 2 run homer.
RHP Seth Lugo was outstanding once again tonight allowing only one run on six hits in seven innings, He allowed no walks and had four strikeouts. He picked up his third win. RHP Addison Reed came in next pitched a scoreless eighth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
