The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds 5-0 today to win their third consecutive game and improve their record to 72-66. They are now a 1/2 game behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild spot in the National League and two games behind the San Francisco Giants for the first wild card spot. SS Matt Reynolds had 2 RBI's with a solo homer and RBI single. 3B Kelly Johnson also hit a solo homer. SS Asdrubal Cabrera hit a pinch hit RBI single. CF Aledandro De Aza added a sacrifice fly.
RHP Bartolo Colon was outstanding with six scoreless innings. He gave up five hits and one walk. He had two strikeouts. He picked up his thirteenth win. RHP Hansel Robles followed a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. LHP Jerry Blevins came in next and recorded the first two outs of the bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Fernando Salas got the last out in the bottom of the eighth and the final three outs in the bottom of the ninth.
