The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 10-3 today to take two out of three games in the series and improve their record to 76-67. They are now a 1/2 game ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild spot. LF Yoenis Cespedes had a huge game with 5 RBI's. Cespedes hit a grand slam and also hit a sacrifice fly. 1B James Loney had 2 RBI's with a homer and double. 2B Kelly Johnson hit an RBI single. CF Aledandro De Aza hit an RBI single. RHP Seth Lugo added a sacrifice lugo.
RHP Seth Lugo pitched a terrific game and allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings. He allowed one walk and had five strikeouts. He picked up his fourth win. LHP Sean Gilmartin pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Logan Verrett allowed a run in the bottom of the ninth inning. LHP Josh Edgin came in and got the last three outs.
