Mets Shutout By Padres 7-0 After Musgrove Dominates

The New York Mets lost to the San Diego Padres 7-0 tonight at Petco Park to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 67-62.

RHP Paul Blackburn got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off homer to DH Luis Arraaez.

In the bottom of the second, Blackburn allowed a two-run homer to catcher Kyle Higashioka.

Later in the inning, Blackburn gave up a RBI single to 1B Jake Croneworth.

Blackburn had to come in the bottom of the third after his right arm was struck by a line drive.

Blackburn's final line was 2.1 innings, 10 hits, five runs, 0 walks and 1 strikeout.

RHP Ryne Stanek came in next and gave up an RBI double to Higashioka.

Stanek gave up another run in the third on a RBI single by Arraez.

LHP Danny Young followed with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth and sixth.

RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh and then gave up a RBI single to 3B Manny Machado in the bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense was dominated by RHP Joe Musgrove who was perfect going into the fifth inning.

They managed two hits all game and were 0-3 with runners in scoring position.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Saturday, August 24 at the Padres at 8:40 p.m.
