The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a single and then stole second.
Three batters later, 1B Pete Alonso drove in Lindor with a RBI single.
In the top of the second, 3B Jose Iglesias led off with a single and two batters later, RF Ben Gamel singled.
CF Tyrone Taylor followed with a RBI single.
The offense did not do much for the next six innings, but then came alive in the top of the ninth.
Pinch-hitter Francisco Alvarez tripled with one out and then Gamel and Taylor followed with walks to load the bases.
Lindor came up and delivered the game-winning two-run single.
Two batters later, D.H. Jesse Winker drove in a much needed insurance run with a RBI single.
RHP Paul Blackburn gave up a solo homer to SS Ezquiel Tovar in the bottom of the first and an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth, but did not allow any more runs after that.
His final line was six innings, five hits, two runs, one earned run, two walks and six strikeouts.
RHP Jose Butto followed and continued his dominance in the bullpen with two scoreless innings in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings.
Butto allowed one hit and no walks with two strikeouts.
He picked up his fifth win and lowered his ERA to 2.30.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and gave up a lead-off triple to 1B Michael Toglia and then a RBI ground-out. but came back to strike out the last two hitters he faced to pick up his 14th save.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, August 8 at the Rockies at 3:10 p.m.
