The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until SS Francisco Lindor hit a solo homer in the bottom of the third.
The offense did not score in the next three innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, CF Harrison Bader led off with a hit by pitch and then two batters later, 3B Mark Vientos singled to advance Bader to third.
D.H. J.D. Martinez then grounded to SS Jackson Holliday, but Holliday bobbled a possible double play which allowed Bader to score.
In the bottom of the seventh, Vientos continued his torrid hitting with a solo homer for his 20th homer of the season.
In the bottom of the ninth, pinch-hitter Jesse Winker led off and hit a walk-off homer for his first homer as a Met.
LHP Sean Manaea started out strong with 5.2 perfect innings, but then ran into trouble in the top of the sixth with two outs after he hit Holliday and then gave up a two-run homer to RF Austin Slater.
Manaea was able to recover with a scoreless top of the seventh and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was seven innings, three hits, three runs, 0 walks and nine strikeouts.
RHP Jose Butto came on in the top of the eighth and had an off day with his command walking two hitters and then later in the inning, allowing a game-tying sacrifice fly to catcher Adley Rutschman, but was able to keep the game tied.
RHP Edwin Diaz followed and had a 1-2-3 top of the ninth with two strikeouts to pick up his fifth win.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday, August 22 at the San Diego Padres at 9:40 p.m.
